What’s up?

Outside my window… It’s hotter than I’d like, but cooler temperatures are right around the corner.

I am thinking… volunteer stuff at both boys’ schools.

I am thankful for… a day of feeling pretty not-too-bad…

From the kitchen… making “cinnamon roll muffins” for my boys.  (They’re actually rhubarb muffins, but I can’t tell the boys that.)

I am wearing… delightfully faded blue jeans and a brown, three quarter sleeve, cotton shirt.  Very comfy!

I am creating… knitting a couple pairs of socks – I’m thinking for my boys:  one blue and one red.

I am going… to pick up Will at lunch time for a McDonald’s picnic in the car.

I am reading… One Grave at a Time by Jeaniene Frost.

I am hoping… I get a second wind real soon…  I tend to hit a wall every afternoon between 2 and 3.

I am hearing… lots of Michael Jackson (Bee’s current favorite) and Queen (Will’s current favorite)

Around the house… got the carpets cleaned this week.  (it was long overdue and it’s so awesome to have clean floors again!)

One of my favorite things… Goldendoodle hugs

A few plans for the rest of the week: A Knit Night and going to the Oktoberfest Craft Fair!!  (hoping for fall-like weather.)

Here is a picture I am sharing…

It Was a Month Too Early

I wanted to go to the pumpkin patch now because Scott had a fishing trip planned and he never has a great time at pumpkin patches…

Our “Colorado Cousins” were all available, except for Levi, who apparently decided to stand us up at the last minute…  uh-hmm…

It was HOT!  All the adults were hot and were all very good sports for sticking it out as long as we did.  And the reason we did?  All the kids were having a ball!

And this picture was worth the whole thing:

There are actually two kids missing in this picture:  Levi and Jasmine.  But this might be as close as we can get these days:  my kids, Debbie’s kids and Lucy’s kids.  It was great.  (I’m still holding out hope that we can get Jeff’s kids in there next time.)

Year in Pictures–Week 48-50

Have you wondered, “Where the hell did Tina go?”  It wasn’t a conscious decision to leave, but we’ve been super busy, mostly with fun stuff.  Sadly, I’ve been battling a migraine again for almost 2 weeks.  It seems to be wrapping up now and I’m very thankful for that!

So, on to the pictures.  There were several days in a row that I didn’t touch my camera, due to the above mentioned headache, but I’ve still got lots to share and document!  So here we go:

We had a couple survivors of the hail storm.  A couple of Bee’s wildflowers made it and we had one cherry tomato, holding on for dear life…  A couple of the tomato plants are trying to come back, but there’s just not enough time to produce anything more this year…  The basil has come back and I plan to do lots of drying very soon!

I got a dozen little, tiny apples in my last veggie box and decided to make a jar of cinnamon applesauce. It’s delicious and made my house smell awesome while it was cooking!

Had a lunch date at school with my Bee bop!

Here’s where we have a gap in pictures.  Just wasn’t feeling like my happy self for a few days…  So the next shot I have is four days later…

We decided to look at our siding option at Home Depot and ran into this!  There were also two men from a siding/roofing company looking too.  We started talking to them and finding out all about HAIL RESISTANT SIDING!!  YES, I SAID HAIL RESISTANT!!!  Scott immediately fell in love with the red and tan and the stone.  We’re in the process of getting all the details hammered out and hopefully, by the end of the year, we’ll be done with our Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition!  And we’ll have an impact resistant house!

My baby broke one of the basic rules of power tool use:  unplug it or take the battery out before you work on the tool.  It was a hard lesson for the whole family.  A rush trip to the E.R., a nerve block in that hand and 6 stitches later, my honey was a happy man again.  I must admit to some guilty feelings about the whole thing.  He was installing under-cabinet lights in my new kitchen, when he did this…  Ugh.

I volunteered to make nametags and little workbooks for Scotty’s field trip to Flowerfield.  It was fun and I loved helping out!

rainstorm

Monday, August 29, 2011

We got a torrential rain storm:  2” of rain in 40 minutes.  Why yes, we had tornado watches, flash flood warnings, a little more hail.  It was great – NOT!

Doodlunchdate

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Had a lunch/Mcdonald’s/picnic-in-the-car with my handsome Dood!  They love it when I show up at school!  I love surprising them!  I’ve promised myself I’ll do more of it this year!  (while they still want to hang out with their Mom.)

This little boy loves to suntan!  His fur gets so toasty, you’d think he’d have a heat stroke…  The sunshine is so bright, his eyes get all watery and he squints…  But he keeps going back for more.  It must feel so good!

Yep, it’s still hot outside, but I put up my fall decorations on September 1st every year.  I can’t wait any longer.  This little thingy is new this year.  I found it at Michael’s and added the little leaves and pine cones.  Now it’s just perfect for me!

We did get a lovely cool front come in today and the cool temperatures stayed around for the whole Labor Day weekend.  It was a fantastic taste of things to come!

I had my heart set on going to the Annual Labor Day Crafts Fair in Estes Park, Colorado this year.  I haven’t been in ages and it sounded like so much fun.  The weather was perfect and it was great!  The last time I remember going to this Fair, I was 5 months pregnant with Will.  I remember buying a little hand-made, wooden choo-choo for his nursery.  We were also on a mission to find tie-dye shirts that said “Estes Park” on them.  The boys had shirts like this when they were really little, and it was special to buy them each a new one!

The boys and Daddy had gone fishing, after the annual Labor Day Picnic at Big Elk MeadowsDaddy let the boys ride home in the back of his truck.

Scotty and his teacher, Mrs. Cape invited me to come along on their class trip to Flowerfield.  For my friends in Iowa, it’s like a smaller version of Living History Farms.  We were blessed with perfect weather again and the kids had a ball!  (the adults did too!)  AND…  oh my gosh the kids were so cute, all dressed up in 1800s clothing!

Pizzaria

Friday, September 9, 2011

Found this in Scotty’s room and thought it was so thoughtful of him to put a gluten-free pizza on his pretend menu.  The boys know that Mommy doesn’t eat sugar and gluten anymore and that it’s gonna help me not have headaches.  Love that boy!
