The State of My Health

I was never diagnosed.  They (numerous medical specialists) could find nothing wrong with me.  I was sick with excruciating and constant back, neck and head pain for 3 years.  Other symptoms were:  all my bones suddenly started popping and cracking, my vision got blurry and I had hazy spots in my vision, burning tongue, hair loss, joint pain, chronic constipation.

The pain was so bad that I was on prescription narcotics for 3 years JUST TO FUNCTION.

I was diagnosed, incorrectly with diabetes, macular degeneration, fibromyalgia, a brain tumor, increased pressure in my spinal cord and lupus.  (follow up tests all proved these were incorrect diagnoses.)

Finally my primary care doctor (the neurologist) gave up.  “Tina, it must be viral.  And in that case, it just has to run its course.”

When medical doctors can finally offer you NOTHING, what do you do?

Lots of research, soul-searching and spiritual decision making.  Lots of prayer.

-I went gluten free for a year – nothing.

-I had prolotherapy – which is a nice word for TORTURE WITH NEEDLES. (people who are in pain will do anything.) – nothing.

-I started buying WAY MORE organic food and non-GMO items, which is great – but didn’t cure me.

-I stopped eating sugar, also very healthy – didn’t stop the pain.

-I quit eating nuts (possible selenium poisoning) – nothing.

-I switched to sulfate-free shampoo (about the same time that my hair started falling out.)

Most recently, this year, I:

-Quit the narcotics.  I was determined to see if I could live without them.  Turns out, I can.

-And finally, I quit Aspartame the beginning of May.

I don’t know what you’re feeling is about Aspartame but there’s lots of information out there and you shouldn’t consume it without knowing what you’re putting in your body!

And within the last couple of weeks, it occurred to me – I’m feeling really good.  I’m feeling normal lots of the time.  I still have lingering symptoms (constipation and hair loss) and occasional pain but it’s manageable and nothing near as bad as it was.

It could be that it was viral the whole time and it has indeed now run its course.  Or it could be that Aspartame was killing me.
